Spinach Pie Recipe

Spinach Pie Recipe pie is prepared with fresh or frozen spinach, shortcrust pastry, Parmesan or feta cheese. You can serve it as a side dish,as an appetizer or as a light lunch/dinner if you prefer. It' s really yummy and it has much less fat that the traditional greek spanakopita. Once you taste it, will be your favorite new food.

700g - spinach

1 - sheet ready

80g - butter

4 - eggs

30g - breadcrumbs

80g - grated Parmesan cheese

- butter

- salt to taste


Clean and wash carefully spinach, drain and cook over medium heat into a covered pan, without adding any water. Once boiled, drain again in a colander, and chop. Place a large frying pan over medium heat, melt 50g butter, add the grated Parmesan cheese, the 3 egg yolks and at last the chopped spinach. In a bowl whisk very well the whites of the eggs and incorporate carefully to the spinach mixture, add bread crumbs and mix well with a fork. Brush with some melted butter a pie dish, place the pastry sheet on a baking tray and pour in the spinach mixture. Brush the Spinach Pie surface with some other melted butter. Preheat oven to 180 Degrees C. Place the pie dish in the oven and bake for 20 minutes, until it has a nice golden brown color. Remove Spinach Pie from oven and let it sit for about 5 minutes before serving. Accompanied with a white wine.
