Healthy Chicken Legs Recipe

Looking for a healthy and economic second dish to prepare for lunch or dinner? We propose a Healthy Chicken Legs Recipe, a really tasty and inexpensive dish. It is prepared with 40 cloves of garlic, chicken legs, baby onions, white wine and freshly thyme. You can prepare this recipe with any kind of chicken, but an organic one will have a very tasty result.

8 - chicken legs, no peel and bones removed

5 - baby onions

40 - garlic cloves, not peeled

3 - tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

2 - tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

1 - fresh thyme bunch

- salt and ground black pepper to taste


Preheat oven to 180°C. Place a casserole or a dip large pan over medium heat, pour the olive oil, add chicken legs (don' t remove skin or bones) and brown for some minutes, until lightly brown. Clean and finely chop the baby onions, add to the same pan where you cooked chicken legs, add the chopped thyme and cook just for 2-3 minutes. Form a layer with 20 garlic cloves, place over the roasted chicken legs and form another layer with the remaining garlic cloves. Top with the browned baby onions and freshly thyme, pour all over the white wine, season with salt and pepper and cover all the casserole surface with an aluminium foil. Bake for about 1 hour 30 minutes, or until all the ingredients are tender and totally cooked. Serve warm, with some grilled bread, over which you can spread the garlic cream. Accompany with a white wine if you prefer.
