American Fried Chicken Recipe

A delicious dish that comes straight from the U.S.A : American Fried Chicken, a traditional american recipe spread all over the world, where you can find fast food chains designed just for this dish: American Fried Chicken. Today there are many versions of this recipe with different combinations of flavors: curry, oregano, cinnamon and cayenne, pepper are just some of the existing variants. The fried chicken with its aromas and its crunchiness is an irresistible dish to enjoy at home or, as the Americans do, to eat at any time of the day according to the tradition of street food. Perfect to accompany with a Jacket Potato.

1kg - chicken thighs and wings

250g - buttermilk

1/2 - tablespoon chilli powder

1/2 - tablespoon garlic powder

2 - cups all

- salt and pepper to taste

1/2 - tablespoon paprika

- seed oil for deep frying


To prepare American Fried Milk begin to by mixing together the spice mix: place in a bowl the flour and all spieces, mix well then transfer all this mixture in a frosting bag and mix again in order to combine. Place the chicken thighs and wings ( cleaned, washed, and dried, but no bones or peel removed ) in a large bowl, pour in the buttermilk. Turn the chicken thighs and wings very well in order to get wet and then insert them into the bag with the spieces mixture. Keep tightly closed the bag with one hand and shake it well to flavor the chicken pieces, which must be well floured. Let chicken meat marinate for at least 1 hour or better overnight. Place a deep saucepan with abundant seeds oil over medium heat, and when oil arrives the ideal temperature, about 170°C-180°C add chicken thighs and wings. If you don' t have a thermometer, dip a small piece of bread in the oil and if it sizzles the oil is ready to fry our chicken pieces. Chicken pieces should be well immerse in the oil, cook them well for about 10 minutes on each side. When cooked remove from oil, place on a tray covered with paper towels so they lose the excess oil. Allow to rest for some minutes and serve warm, preferably with a Jacket Potato.
