Focaccia Recipe

This easy Focaccia Recipe is crisp on the out side, perfect to prepare delicious panini or sandwiches, to accompany fresh salads, to accompany picnics and once you prepare it, you will never stop.

500g - all

1 - tablespoon active dry yeast

1 - yolk egg

2 - cup milk, warm but not hot

1 - teaspoon white sugar

150g - fontina or mozzarella cheese

150g - mortadella or speck

3 - tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

- salt


In a large bowl combine together the dry yeast, the warm milk and 2 teaspoons of white sugar. Let rest for 15 minutes. Place the flour into a working surface, add 1 tablespoon salt, mix carefully, add the prepared milk mixture, the olive oil and knead with your hands, until the dough becomes homogenous and smooth. Divide dough into two parts and enlarge both of them. Place the first dough layer on a greased baking sheet, place the sliced fontina cheese and mortadella, and cover with the other dough layer. Close very well the dough borders, cover with a cloth towel and let sit for 2 hours, into a warm place. Brush the tasty focaccia surface with the egg yolk and let bake in the preheated oven (150 Degrees C) for 45 minutes, until just golden. Remove from baking sheet and cool on rack.
